Course Description

This elective course focuses on skills applicable to the role of a Cybersecurity Engineer (also referred to as an Information Security Engineer) and provides the skills needed to configure Information Security defenses. Topics include Network Security as well as Endpoint Security. Students will focus on skills applicable to the construction of defensive objects such as rulesets or configurations for common security appliances. Defensive measures such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Proxy, Integrity Monitoring, Encryption, and more will be discussed at length, giving students real, actionable knowledge to provide true defensive value to their organization. Throughout this course, students will troubleshoot various 7defensive devices and applications, learn how to empower organizations through the information provided by such mechanisms, and become an asset to their company and career.

 

Recommended prerequisites: This course is designed for students with A+ and Network+ certifications or equivalent knowledge and experience as well as a basic understanding of Information Security concepts such as those taught in Core Concepts of Cyber Defense.
