By the time you finish this course, you will have practice with the skills you need to overcome typical challenges as well as implement strategies and governance related to information technology in the field of health care.

This course is perfect for those in non-technical healthcare management working at the manager and director level with both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds. If you’ve worked in healthcare for two or more years in a non-technical manager role, this course will equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to 


What You’ll Learn

Throughout the Health IT Governance and Strategy course, you will explore the principles, processes, and organizational structures that govern IT resources. This will include obtaining a deep understanding of barriers to adoption and failed implementations, which are often the result of strategy misalignment and departmental silos. Additionally, you will develop the skills to evaluate organizational needs and create plans to help healthcare leaders successfully implement strategy and governance over information technology, as well as how to evaluate the outcomes of those implementations. To prepare for career opportunities in this area, you will participate in team-oriented activities related to overcoming technology adoption barriers in healthcare. You will also analyze organizational needs through case analysis to gain needs assessment skills for real world use so you can walk away from this course ready to start using your newly acquired skills right away.


How You’ll Learn

This five week course requires you to spend 5-6 hours per week on course work and asynchronous instruction, totaling about 25-30 hours over the entirety of the course length. You will learn through collaborative team activities, practice in evaluating and analyzing organizational needs, learning about the typical challenges you may face when implementing changes, and more. You will end the course by practicing how to create a Request For Proposal (RFP) document.
