What You’ll Learn

In Fundamentals of Healthcare Information Systems, you’ll explore many different topics related to healthcare information systems, including the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and its associated modules, and ancillary, specialty, and back office systems such as registration, census, and billing. In addition, you’ll also learn how to analyze and interpret how information is gathered, stored, and used through these systems.

How You’ll Learn

This five week course requires you to spend 5-6 hours per week on course work and asynchronous instruction, totaling about 25-30 hours over the entirety of the course length. Through hypothetical case analysis, forum discussions, and the development of a project proposal, you will practice the skills you need to use data collection systems and overcome typical barriers to adoption.
