Is This Course For You?
You don’t need any prior experience in Lean Six Sigma to take the Yellow Belt course. If you’re a part of a team that is looking to streamline your processes and improve your productivity and workflows, this course is the perfect first step.
What You’ll Learn
In the Yellow Belt course, you’ll be introduced to the basics of the Lean Six Sigma methodology and gain the tools you need to begin implementing changes at your workplace. The Lean Six Sigma process is structured specifically to give you the tools you need to find problems, figure out why they’re happening, and begin to identify and implement solutions to those problems. This is a process known as DMAIC, and you’ll learn how to successfully implement the first four steps: define, measure, analyze, and improve.
You will also learn why great ideas for change initiatives often fail, which will help you develop solutions and strategies that can avoid those pitfalls. You’ll walk away from this course ready to give your carefully crafted recommendations to management with a specific plan of action for implementing those changes.
How You’ll Learn
You will work on a real-world project during the Yellow Belt course, and throughout the duration of the course you’ll be applying what you learn to that project. By the end, you’ll understand not only the general ideas of Lean Six Sigma and how to use those ideas to generate positive change, but you’ll also have a specific plan on how to improve a project or process in your workplace.
This course is fully virtual with weekly review sessions where your instructor will cover course material, but you can complete the coursework for the week at your own pace. During the six weeks, you’ll have access to pre-recorded lectures, team exercises, quizzes, and online discussions boards.
This course takes place over the course of six weeks, and the time commitment is about 1-2 hours a week of training content and 5-6 hours of time on your team project. As a note, the first meeting of this course will be a shorter orientation followed by longer weekly review sessions.
