Throughout this course, you’ll build, evaluate, and improve your technical communication portfolio and speak with people currently working in technical communication roles to get a better understanding of what it means to work in technical communication and how you can begin your career in this industry.

What You’ll Learn

This course will help you prepare your personal portfolio of technical communication work samples as well as prepare you to discuss your technical communication abilities. You’ll learn about the components that make up a strong technical communication portfolio so that you can create and evaluate these components with your own work. As part of this course, you’ll conduct an informational interview, also known as a “coffee talk,” with someone working in technical communication so you can find out more about what it’s like to work in this field. You’ll also participate in a mock interview for a technical communication position so you can get practice talking about your portfolio, knowledge, and skills.

How You’ll Learn

In this hands-on six week course, you’ll create and evaluate a portfolio of your technical communication work. You’ll also get practice speaking about your experience and work in a mock interview for a technical communication role as well as learn about what it’s like to actually work in a technical communication position through an informal interview with someone currently working in the field.
