Course Description

Nonprofit teams are being asked to do more with limited time, lean staffing, and growing expectations from funders, boards, partners, and communities. AI can help, but only when it is used with purpose, clear boundaries, and human review.

In this applied workshop, you will learn how AI tools behave, where they can support nonprofit work, and where human judgment, privacy, and organizational context remain essential. You will explore how training data, prediction, hallucinations, prompts, source materials, and review practices shape the quality of AI-supported work.

Unlike workshops that focus primarily on AI tools, this workshop is built around implementation. You'll bring a recurring workflow from your nonprofit and use it throughout the day to identify where AI can add value, establish appropriate guardrails, and create a practical starting point you can test, refine, and share with your team.

We start with your mission and your work. Bring a recurring task, process, workflow, or use case from your organization, then explore AI through that lens. You will identify where AI can create practical value, what information it needs, what should remain human-led, and how to shape a responsible approach that fits your organization’s goals, tools, and standards.
