CE-ADMA-2003 - Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) Processing
Course Description
In CMOS Processing, you’ll be introduced to the fundamental concepts related to the manufacturing of complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) integrated circuits. You’ll start by diving into the basics of semiconductor sciences for CMOS processing, then advance to the design of individual process operations and their integration into a complete manufacturing sequence. In addition, you’ll learn critical device fabrication steps, including ion implantation, oxidating, diffusion, etching, and chemical vapor deposition. Throughout the course, there will be an emphasis on quality assurance control for semiconductor manufacturing through topics including work-in-process management using manufacturing execution systems, total quality management, failure mode and effect analysis, and more.
Course Outcomes
- Understand Semiconductor Basics
Knowledge of the basics of semiconductor science as required for CMOS process technology. - Implement CMOS device fabrication
Understand the concepts related to various manufacturing processes (Etch, Deposition, Diffusion, etc.) for implementing CMOS device fabrication. - Work in Progress Tracking
Basics of work in progress tracking such as data collection, statistical process control, cycle time management, defect reduction & yield enhancement, etc.
The Learning Experience
This asynchronous course is designed for those who have associate degrees in STEM fields and anyone already working in the semiconductor industry not involved in the cleanroom and fabrication components of this field. Prior knowledge of semiconductors and microelectronics is strongly recommended before taking this course. If you have no previous experience with semiconductors and microelectronics, we recommend enrolling in our Semiconductor and Society and IC Tech courses first. Please note that knowledge of calculus is not required for this course.
