Course Description

AI applications can be extremely helpful in a business setting, from chat bots to data analytics tools, and understanding how to build your own is an extremely useful skill to add to your resume. In this course, you’ll learn not only how to build an AI application that is relevant to your industry, but also how to identify use cases and ethically implement your application into a workflow.

Is This Course for You?

This capstone course is designed for professionals in any industry with some experience working with generative AI who are interested in learning more about building their own AI applications. You do not need any coding experience to thrive in this course. This course is the final required course for the Applied Generative AI Mastery Certificate, and if you’re pursuing the mastery certificate we recommend that you take the first three core courses before this one. This course can be taken concurrently with your elective choices for the mastery certificate.

What You’ll Learn

In this capstone course, you’ll design, develop, and deploy a no-code or low-code AI application using ChatGPT, Claude, or an Open Source LLM that addresses a specific business challenge. You’ll learn the fundamentals of Python programming so you can generate and debug code using an LLM and build a basic RAG application using open-source tools. For your final project, you’ll develop and present a fully functional AI application to perform a business function. This project will include identifying the process to develop a use case, assessing the risk of using AI to solve a specific problem, and figuring out how the application would be integrated into a user’s workflow. You’ll build your application and test it with your classmates to gather feedback so you can edit your application before presenting it to a professional jury for evaluation.

This hands-on course will give you the skills and practice you need to build no-code or low-code AI applications through weekly development sprints, peer reviews, instructor-led workshops on application design and development, and more. You’ll work throughout the course on developing an application for your final project, including testing and refining your applications through peer review and instructor feedback before your final presentation.

Notes

Students should have a high-speed internet connection and be familiar with using web-based applications. All web-based applications can be run using a Mac or a PC with no software downloads required.

Students will have the option of using an LLM web application like ChatGPT or Claude, or an Open Source tool to develop their application, which may require a paid subscription.

Prerequisites

Students must complete all mastery certificate course requirements prior to enrolling in this course.
