Exploring the ways that generative AI can be used for your specific industry or role is key to using this powerful tool effectively. In this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to use generative AI in your profession and gain a deeper understanding of the benefits and implications of using this evolving technology.

Is This Course For You?

If you’re interested in learning how to improve your productivity, knowledge acquisition and retention, or creativity using generative AI, this course is a good fit for you. Prior knowledge of AI isn’t required for this course, only a willingness to dive into the material and gain hands-on experience exploring how you can use generative AI in your industry. This is the third course in the Applied Generative AI Mastery Certificate, and if you’re pursuing the mastery certificate we recommend that you take Introduction to Generative AI either before or at the same time as this course.

What You’ll Learn

In this course, you’ll focus on the practical application of generative AI, including working with multi-modal large language models and media-generating models. You’ll gain hands-on experience using these tools to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions. In your final project, which will demonstrate your understanding of the generative AI skills you’ll gain in this course and serve as an addition to your professional portfolio, you’ll create a comprehensive project showcasing the application of generative AI tools in your industry or area of work. Your project will focus on an aspect of your work that can be enhanced through the use of generative AI to drive productivity, knowledge acquisition and retention, or creativity. You’ll use at least two generative AI tools to complete your project and identify your workflow using the tools, including both the human and machine elements.

How You’ll Learn

This twelve-week course is fully online with synchronous sessions. To learn more about when these sessions will take place, click the “+” button next to the run dates for this course. Throughout this course, you’ll engage in hands-on activities including exercises using AI tools to generate text, code, and images with real-time demonstrations. You’ll also participate in peer review sessions where you’ll present your AI-generated project and receive feedback as well as provide feedback for your classmates. In addition, you’ll work on your final project showcasing the application of generative AI tools in your industry throughout the course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Develop proficiency in using various generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Runway, etc.) to generate text, code, images, video, voice, and music.
• Identify and analyze various use cases of generative AI in different industries and apply these technologies to enhance personal and professional projects.
• Conduct experiments with generative AI tools to create diverse outputs, including text, code, and visual content.
• Critically evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of different generative AI tools and techniques in practical scenarios.
• Provide and receive constructive peer feedback on AI-generated projects to refine and improve outputs.
